Creating an Import

In this article we will review how to successfully Import a raw .csv file into Organizer. Please reference the Preparing Your File For Import article before uploading data to ensure a successful import.

What is an Import?

An import is the raw data that you upload into Organizer. After manipulating your file to meet the requirements for importing, go to the List Tab and select the Upload icon (the cloud with the arrow).

This is the Imports page where you can view and manage your available sources. To start a new Import, select the + icon in the top menu.

Starting a .csv Import

The Import modal is where you can select the .csv file. Please review the Preparing Your File for Import Article before uploading data.

You should name your Import, and you can adjust the Import color by clicking the top left color box. You may also select whether or not you would like that Import to automatically become a list that’s ready to canvass.

Select “Choose File” to select the file you’d like to Import and hit Save!

NationBuilder Selection

If you have the NationBuilder integration, select the NationBuilder option from the new Import modal. From there you will have access to all your Lists created in NationBuilder and can select which List you would like to Import.

Once you've imported a list from NationBuilder, that List is static, it will not change if you adjust the filters in NationBuilder.

However, once you've made a List from your NationBuilder Import the List will react like an Organizer List and will automatically exclude people contacted, and certain designated canvass results (Inaccessible, Moved, Vacant, Refused, Already Voted, etc). When your Workers are out in the field, their answers will automatically sync back with NationBuilder.
